"Quiet Time" is the first SHOUT project release. It was recorded at Heaven Sown studios and took about 2 years to record and around 6 months to mix. The Album contains 7 brand new songs written by members of SHOUT. All but one arrangement are SHOUT original arrangements as well. SHOUT arranges it's music much like the original Barbershoppers did. Men would hang around the local barbershop and sing their favorite tunes putting in harmonies by ear. Or "woodshed" as modern barbershoppers call it. We start with a melody and add harmonies by ear. Sometimes we will discuss the feel of the song and add backing vocals behind a lead melody and/or a "walking" bass line. We often use a guitar or keyboard to figure out chord progressions and voicing's to help refine the process. Often the writer of the song will have some ideas in mind when he writes it (such as bass rythems or background vocal lines or counter melodies) and we will incorporate that into the song. If the song is not an original we will usually listen to a recording of the song and "pick" parts off the recording and then add our own style to it. None of us are proficient at notating music so the song typically remains just a page of lyrics with a couple chords (or the key) written on it. We often record "crude" versions of a song to "preserve" ideas and to help with the creative process. SHOUT had a great time writing and arranging the music for "Quiet Time" and we pray you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed producing it. Quiet Time Written by Art Sarkkinen, Arranged by SHOUT Lead Vocal: Art Bass Vocal: Dave 1st Tenor: Willy 2nd Tenor: Dan Scat: Art & Dan Vocal Percussion: Dan
It can get crazy livin’ in a busy world The time you wake up, you’re chasin’ down another day It can get hectic, it can be stressful You better watch out your brain is gonna’ run away Now we got things we know that need attending to But we get a little tired now isn’t it the truth It may sound strange but I really do believe My conscience telling me
I need some quiet time, I need some peace of mind I need some quiet time, I need some quiet…
I find a place where I can open up the good book I look for something to try to put my mind at ease My meditation, is on the Savior He’s so amazing his love is there to comfort me When all that noise hits me right between the eyes There’s nowhere to go, there’s no place to hide Well it took a little while but now I really see I know he’s telling me
I need some quiet time, I need some peace of mind I need some quiet time, I need some quiet…
Quiet time I need some quiet… Turn off the TV I want some solitude I need to let the Spirit move Listen to me, listen to me I want to hear myself think My ears are doing windmills I wanna’ hear that small voice
It’s far too often that were driving in the fast lane We’re in a hurry we really need to slow down Take time and listen to the Lord of all creation His word is peace and you can have it now So come on people his love for you and me Is wider than the sky, deeper than the sea The more you get to know you’ll never be the same Be still and hear him say
We need some quiet time, we need some peace of mind We need some quiet time, we need some quiet…
Go Tell It On The Mountain Traditional, Arranged by SHOUT Lead Vocal 1st verse: Dan, 2nd verse: Willy, 3rd verse & chorus: Art Bass Vocal: Dave 1st Tenor: Willy Baritone: Dan
Go tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is born
When I was a seeker I sought both night and day I asked the Lord to help me And he showed me the way
Go tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is born
He made me a watchman Upon a city wall, And if I am a Christian, I am the least of all.
Go tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go tell it on the mountain That Jesus Christ is born
Down in a lowly manger The humble Christ was born God sent us salvation That blessed Christmas morn
One Of These Days Written by Art Sarkkinen, Arranged by SHOUT Lead Vocal: Art Bass Vocal: Dave 1st Tenor: Willy 2nd Tenor: Dan Vocal Percussion: Dan
One of these days, one of these days One of these days, one of these days
I got so fired up from a sermon I heard That a part me wanted to move But I have to be honest cause part of me didn’t Even though that’s what I should do We have brothers and sisters living out there Some are lost and they don’t have a clue If we plant a little seed, the spirit brings water And the Lord’s gonna lead em to truth
One of these days, one of these days I’m gonna find me the courage I’m needing to say I’m Gonna get around one of these days One of these days, one of these days I’m gonna get on down, gonna get right to it Gonna get around one of these days One of these days, one of these days One of these days, one of these days
There’s a friend I’ve known for a good time now And he’s always been good to me We talk about this and we talk about that And I’m thinking that he really believes Well I care about him and his family too I pray to the Lord for their needs Will the words come out to talk about Jesus? Before either one of us leaves
One of these days, one of these days I’m gonna find me the courage I’m needing to say Gonna get around one of these days One of these days, one of these days With the help of the Lord I’ll witness His name Gonna get around one of these days One of these days, one of these days I’m gonna get on down, gonna get right to it Gonna get around one of these days I’m gonna get on down, gonna get right to it Gonna get around one of these days

Look all around, there’s nothin’ but blue skies Look straight ahead, nothin’ but blue skies

Can You Feel It? Written by Art Sarkkinen, Arranged by SHOUT Lead Vocal: Art Bass Vocal: Dave 1st Tenor: Willy 2nd Tenor: Dan Baritone: Dan Vocal Percussion: Dan
Can you feel it?...
There’s no one ever walked like him And no one can And every life that ever was Came through this man Many hearts he often touched He could turn your life around He’s the one that would love so much Enough to lay his own life down Now such a time had come one day And he knew it would A sacrifice he had to make And he did it all for you
Can you feel it? (Can you feel his love?) This kind of love? (Does it dwell inside?) Can you feel it? (Does it reach the soul?) Agape Love (The love of Christ)
Now some would go to follow him Believing in the words he said They are searching for the peace that saves Hungry for the bread
Can you feel it? (His love) This kind of love? (For you and me) Can you feel it? (Isn’t it a miracle?) Agape Love (This love that came to be)
Wayfaring Stranger Traditional, Arranged by SHOUT Lead Vocal: Dan Bass Vocal: Dave 1st Tenor: Willy 2nd Tenor: Art Baritone: Dan
I am a poor wayfaring stranger Traveling through this world of woe But there’s no sickness toil or danger In that bright land to which I go
I’m going there to meet my brother I’m going there no more to roam I’m only going over Jordan I’m only going over home
I know dark clouds Will gather over me I know my way is rough and steep But golden fields lay on before Where God’s redeemed and angels sleep
I’m going there to meet my mother I’m going there no more to roam I’m only going over Jordan I’m only going over home
Scat
I’m going there to meet my Savior I’m going there no more to roam I’m only going over Jordan I’m only going over home

Oh, no! What we gonna do? The king likes Daniel more than me and you. Oh, no! What we gonna do? We've gotta get him outta here. Oh, no! What we gonna do? The king likes Daniel more than me and you. Oh, no! What we gonna do? We've gotta get him outta here.
We could throw him in the dungeon We could let him rot in jail. We could drag him to the ocean Have him eaten by a whale.
We could throw him in the Tigris Let him float awhile, Then we'll all sit back and watch him meet A hungry crocodile We could put him on a camel's back And send him off to Ur With a cowboy hat without a brim A boot without a spur.
We could give him jelly doughnuts, Take them all away Or we could fill his ears with cheese balls And his nostils with sorbet We could use him as a footstool Or a table to play Scrabble on Then tie him up and beat him up And throw him out of Babylon!
Testimony Written by Willy Scott, Arranged by SHOUT Lead Vocal: Art Bass Vocal: Dave 1st Tenor: Willy 2nd Tenor: Dan Vocal Percussion: Dan
I’m runnin’, I’m runnin’ Runnin’ just as fast as I can ‘Cause I run by faith and not by sight And I’m saved by the blood of the Lamb
I’m prayin’, I’m prayin’ Prayin’ just as hard as I can ‘Cause I’m no doubt, sold out, born again And I’m saved by the blood of the Lamb
And I’ll praise You Lord with all my heart No other god will take my praise And I’ll bow down and seek your holy face And I (and I), will praise (will praise), And I will praise Your name
Jesus, my Jesus You took away all my sin Now I’m waitin’, waitin’, anticipatin’ Knowin’ that You’re comin’ again

Sad Man Blues Written by Art Sarkkinen, Arranged by SHOUT Lead Vocal: Art Bass Vocal: Dave 1st Tenor: Willy 2nd Tenor: Dan Baritone: Dan
So sad, so sad Did anyone notice the look on the man? He looks so lonely, like the man in the moon So sad, so whoa-is-me sad It seems like he’s lost everything he’s ever had I do believe, he has the sad man blues
So what can we do then? What can we do to help the man? We need to throw him out a line Reach him with Jesus, the savior of the world Don’t let any chances pass you by
So sad, you know it makes me want to cry So many people living without Christ When you are empty, it’s enough to get you down So sad, you know it makes me wonder why They can’t find the answer that brings them to the light I do believe, there’s too much of that sad blues going round
The tears of the broken hearted Will always remain Unless we find a way to make a change Only compassion from someone who cares Can break the clouds to drive the blues away
So sad, so cold If we do nothing and leave him all alone Lord help us save him, Oh Lord help us save him From the sad man blues
It's Gonna' Rain Written by C.B. Johnson, Arranged by SHOUT Lead Vocal: Art Bass Vocal: Dave 1st Tenor: Willy 2nd Tenor: Dan
It’s gonna’ rain, It’s gonna’ rain You better get ready and bear it in mind God showed Noah the rainbow sign It won’t be water it’ll be fire next time
Way back in the bible days Noah told the people that it's gonna’ rain But when he told them they paid him no mind And then when it happened they were left behind
Down it came, the rain began to pour They knocked on the window That they knocked on the door They didn't know exactly what to do Now I don't want this to happen to you
Noah said, sorry my friend The Lord's got the key and you can't get in If something don't happen to the hearts of men The same thing is gonna happen again |
